Grisedale 

Grisedale is a stunning, hidden dale situated approximately 7 miles equi-distant between the lively market towns of Hawes, Sedbergh and Kirkby Stephen.  Hawes offers a good selection of shops and crafts, which include rope making, pottery and the Wensleydale Creamery, complete with visitor centre. Visit the livestock market on Tuesday market days, as well as the stalls arranged on the main street. The River Eden runs through Kirkby Stephen, which is situated on the eastern edge of Cumbria and holds a market each Monday. Sedbergh prides itself on being England’s ‘Booktown’. For those wishing to venture a little further, neighbouring Swaledale is well worth visiting via the ‘Buttertubs’ pass, and Wharfedale and Malham are not too distant, lying beyond Hawes over the picturesque Cam Houses road. The famous Ribblehead viaduct, part of the Settle to Carlisle line (passing within earshot of Grisedale), is just over the fell tops from Garsdale station. The same road leads into Dentdale, itself famed for its beauty. Not least, less than an hour away, are the central Lakeland Mountains. An abundance of choice.
